Chapter Eternal: Douglas MacMillan ’66

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Brother Douglas MacMillan ’66 into Chapter Eternal. We want to extend our deepest sympathies to his family friends and loved ones.

Douglas Stewart MacMillan, Captain (USNR ret’d) died March 27, 2017 at Veterans Victory House, Walterboro, SC at age 73 from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. Capt. MacMillan was born on December 30, 1944 in St. Louis, Mo. He was raised in Kearny, New Jersey and graduated from Gettysburg College, a member of Lambda Chi Alpha in 1966. He later received an MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati. H was commissioned as a Lieutenant, JG and earned his wings at the NAS Pensacola. He served as an intelligence officer in Vietnam from 1967- 1969 and continued to serve his country for 22 years in the Navy Reserves. Doug had a successful business career in the telecommunications industry with AT&T and Rockwell International Corp. He loved playing golf and baseball and was a lifelong Dodger and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Doug is survived by his son John MacMillan and his 2 sisters, Heather McCormick of Beaufort and Alyson Hamilton. He was buried in the Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors on April 10, 2017 at 11:00 am.
